In a stunning display of arrogance, betrayal and dishonesty, Andrew Cuomo quickly signed a bill passed by the legislature less than 24 hours earlier granted New York driver licenses to illegal aliens. Ignoring the 911 Commission report which held that the terrorists that bombed the World Trade Center were illegally present in the United States and were aided in their actions by the ability to obtain identity documents in furtherance of their plan to attack America, Governor Cuomo and his allies in Albany have placed their allegiance to a domestic radical ideology above their responsibility to protect New Yorkers.  

Currently there is no valid reason to provided driver licenses for illegal aliens. With passage of criminal penalties for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, most illegal aliens have decided not to drive due to the potential of criminal charges and likely deportation. Even the violation of driving without insurance has been almost non-existent as law enforcement began confiscating the vehicles of violators. Thus there is NO public safety issue which would justify this action.

The outcome is detrimental to citizens both born and naturalized as well as those here legally. It allows illegal aliens equal footing to compete for jobs with young people, recent college graduates, seniors and those in low income communities. It is an effort to integrate illegal aliens into the fabric of society and then claim that the only alternative now that they have all these privileges is to give legal status and voting rights.

By rewarding those who break the law and giving criminals the opportunity to roam freely within our state, all New Yorkers are placed at risk. Yes, Albany amended the defined term for a  misdemeanor conviction from 365 days to 364 days which allows criminal illegal aliens to avoid being flagged for deportation upon conviction of crimes such as DWI, assault, prostitution and theft. It would include any plea deal in which an illegal alien who is charged with a serious felony pleads guilty to a misdemeanor. 

Andrew Cuomo has been feeding illegal aliens from taxpayer funds for quite some time. He has helped pass free college tuition, expanded access to health care, public housing, public benefits, granted professional licenses and has even provided free legal assistance for illegal aliens avoid deportation. His recent effort is all about allowing illegal aliens to vote. Based on the motor voter law, those who are granted licenses are given the opportunity to register to vote. There are no provisions to prevent illegal aliens from voting. This is why a majority of New Yorkers oppose this scheme.

Placing New Yorkers at risk of another terror attack, rewarding illegal behavior, depleting public resources to assist those here illegally often ignoring the needs of citizens, helping criminals avoid deportation and disenfranchising your own citizens from voting meet the definition of treason. Andrew Cuomo and the legislature know better. We have conceded our freedoms and liberty to those with evil intentions. Now is the time to take a stand, enter the arena and let your voices be heard. The People can make a difference, the People will prevail.
