IMMIGRATION ACTION ALERTS

Say NO to Syrian refugees

In light of the Paris attacks, over 31 Governors (Andrew Cuomo has sided with the President) have called for a halt to the resettlement of 10,000 Syrian muslims in the United States yet the President remains defiant and has made it clear that he will move forward. The President dismissed the concerns that terrorists will blend in with the refugees even though ISIS claimed that this is exactly what they have already done and the investigation by French authorities has linked at least two Syrians to the Paris attacks..

Even though the President has claimed that the refugees will be well veted, what is the definition of well veted and what benchmark will be used. Considering the lack of honesty on the part of the Syrian government and the lack of a documentary identity trail to follow, it will be based on ruling out finding any verifiable negative information. Thus the majority will be allowed to enter the U.S. It is reasonable to conclude that ISIS soilders will slip in. The Paris attacks involved ten participants in the actual terrorist acts so missing 1% equals 100 terrorists.

There is ample evidence of failure to vet those seeking asylum and the right to immigrat to the U.S. The FBI has  acknowledged over 1000 active investigations of ISIS sympathizers in all fifty states and these are people who are here legally. The questions is simple; is it worth the risk? What makes the President's actions even more egregious is the willful exclusion of Arab Christians who are the target of a campaign of genocide.

NYS Dems:
If we win NY Senate, illegal Aliens get amnesty & can vote!

The proposed Senate bill to give all benefits

  In a move that baffles reality, NYS Democrats have promised to grant full citizenship rights to close to 3 million illegal aliens living in New York. The bill authored by NYS Senator Gustavo Rivera would grant the the right to hold elective office, the right to vote in state & local elections and to to grant all professional licenses including driver licenses. This would include the ability to practice law.

The law would use taxpayer funds to provide free medical coverage through Medicaid and would include a wide array of social service benefits. Illegal aliens would be granted free tuition assistance for college, in state tuition and financial aid. A private fund would also be established to provide free scholarships for those who are here illegally.

The law would also conflict with federal immigration law as it would prohibit all state & local agencies from sharing information with federal immigration officers relating to violations of immigration law, limit access to state and local offices and would deny all immigration detainers of illegal aliens. It would also authorize any other localities to enact additional laws that would further benefit those who are here illegally.

The middle class is over worked, over taxed yet our elected leaders want to give away our tax dollars, open the doors of the state to the illegal immigrants of the world and dilute your citizenship rights by allowing those who have no legal right to be here to be able to vote for their interests not yours.

From our friends at NumbersUSA.com

Tell N.Y. State Assembly No to Higher Education Financial Aid for Illegal Aliens

A 2597, sponsored by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, would make illegal-alien students eligible for state financial aid programs, including tuition assistance and scholarships. The so-called "DREAM fund" bill also would create a new commission to raise private funds for scholarships targeting "immigrant" children. Although this assault on New York taxpayers is expected to pass the Assembly, we are asking for your assistance in fighting the bill every step of the way.

The bill passed the Assembly Higher Education Committee and will be considered in the Ways and Means Committee before a floor vote. The Assembly passed a similar bill last year but it was never taken up by the Republican-controlled Senate. Media reports suggest that Senate Republican still oppose taxpayer-funded assistance, but could support the distribution of private funds through a commission. You will have an opportunity to contact Senators later. For now, please contact your Assemblyperson and the others noted below and tell them to oppose A 2597.

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, we must focus our resources on the hurricane's victims. It is unconscionable to give tax dollars to illegal immigrants for tuition aid at a time when Americans are fighting to put their lives back together.

In addition, A 2597 makes no sense when U.S. citizens face higher education tuition and fee increases. The legislation would significantly reduce tuition revenue and force either tuition or tax hikes. And since aid is limited, this bill will foreclose the graduation potential of citizens and legal residents who are turned away.

UPDATE: AMNESTY DEFEATED AGAIN!

All bills relating to immigration were removed from the Iraq Supplemental spending bill.

May 19, 2008

ACTION ALERT: NEW AMNESTY BILL IN CONGRESS

From Numbers USA:

The Senate Appropriations Committee voted 17-12 to attach an amnesty to the Iraq supplemental spending bill. The amendment that passed provides a 5-year visa for up to 1.35 million illegal agricultural workers—but the cap of 1.35 million does not include spouses and children, who would bring the total amnesty to a total of about 3 million.

Details from NumbersUSA:

    In short, the AgJOBS amendment would require the Department of Homeland Security to grant “emergency agricultural worker status” (i.e., amnesty) for up to five years to as many as 1.35 million illegal aliens, plus their spouses and children, if the illegal alien:

  • Could show by “a preponderance of the evidence” that he worked 863 hours or 150 work days (defined as 5.75 hours of work per “work day”), or earned at least $7,000 in agricultural employment between January1, 2004, and December 31, 2007;
    NOTE FROM NUMBERSUSA: In other words, the illegal alien would have to show that he was illegally employed in agriculture for a grand total of less than 22 weeks during a four-year period! And he can prove his employment history “by producing sufficient evidence to show the extent of that employment as a matter of just and reasonable inference.”

  • Filed an amnesty application with a “qualified designated entity,” or with DHS directly if he is represented by an attorney or a nonprofit organization, during an 18-month application period that would begin six months after enactment of the amnesty;
    NOTE FROM NUMBERSUSA: No illegal alien is permitted to file an application for the amnesty without assistance from an attorney or an advocacy group—a “qualified designated entity” is defined as a labor or employer association or “any such other person” with “substantial experience” in filing adjustment of status applications.

  • Was not a known terrorist or convicted criminal; and
    NOTE FROM NUMBERSUSA: Criminals would only be barred if they had been convicted of one or more felonies or three or more misdemeanors, so a couple of convictions for domestic violence or drunk and disorderly are fine, since those are generally misdemeanor offenses. And, of course, terrorists-in-waiting—those who have not yet committed a terrorist act or been caught with other known terrorists so they could be added to the watch list—likely would have no trouble qualifying for this amnesty, just as Mahmud Abouhalima, an illegal-alien cab driver in New York, qualified for the 1986 agricultural amnesty before going on to drive a bomb into the World Trade Center in 1993.

  • Paid a “fine” of $250.

  • Once an illegal alien met these minimal qualifications, he would be entitled to:

  • Bring his spouse and children here to join him, or legalize their status, if they are already here illegally;

  • Official U.S. government identification documents, including a valid social security number—with which he would be able to apply for a driver’s license—and a work permit (spouses would be allowed to apply for work permits, as well); and

  • Immunity from prosecution for committing social security fraud if he had been working illegally with a false or stolen social security number.

WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT’S NEXT?

Last Thursday, the Senate Appropriations Committee added several immigration amendments to the version of the Iraq Supplemental they were marking up.

    The immigration amendments include:

  • First was the Feinstein AgJOBS-lite amendment, which passed by a recorded vote of 17-12;

  • Second was a Mikulski H-2B amendment--for the next three years, it would exempt from the annual cap of 66,000 any H-2B workers who were admitted during the previous three years. (The impact on the numbers could be exponential--they could rise from 66,000 in FY 2008 to over 400,000 by FY2011.) This passed by a recorded vote of 23-6!

  • Third was an amendment by Sens. Murray and Gregg to "recapture unused" employment-based visas from the past couple of decades. Since any employment-based visas that are not used in one year are added to the number of available family-based visas for the following year, there are no "unused" employment-based visas, and so there are none to "recapture." However, Murray and Gregg's deceptive manipulation of visa numbers would add an estimated 218,000 (total) employment-based visas to the annual cap of 140,000, until they are all used (again!). This amendment passed by voice vote.

  • Finally, Sen. Leahy offered an amendment to reauthorize the investor visa program. This, too, was approved by voice vote.

ACTION ALERT: HOUSE SPEAKER PELOSI PUSHING NEW AMNESTY PLAN

From NumbersUSA:

In a nutshell, your efforts to push the SAVE Act (H.R. 4088) of Rep. Shuler (D-N.C.) and Rep. Bilbray (R-Calif.) are increasingly successful. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fears that the current 136 co-sponsors will succeed in forcing a House floor vote on the bill to take jobs away from millions of illegal aliens. She desperately wants to keep the 12-20 million illegal aliens in this country. So, she is maneuvering to attach a 5-year amnesty proposal of the Hispanic Caucus. Her hope is that she will either win with the amnesty or just make the bill so bad that we will help her kill the enforcement.

Right now, Republican supporters of H.R. 4088 are circulating a discharge petition in an effort to bring the bill to the House floor for a vote. They need 218 members' signatures, meaning that at least 20 Democrats would have to take the supreme act of rebellion: directly defying Mrs. Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and the rest of the party leadership to bring to a vote legislation that the leadership wants no part of. Senior Democrats, worried that they may not be able to keep the bill tied up in committee, have come up with a Plan B — muddling the issue by attaching a killer amendment to the Shuler bill, which would come in the form of an amendment proposed by Rep. Joe Baca, California Democrat and chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

The Baca Amendment would give illegal aliens who pass a background check a "five-year temporary worker permit" that expires on Dec. 31, 2012. It would also provide employers who hired illegal aliens "safe harbor" (apparently some measure of immunity from prosecution) for past hiring of illegal aliens. If Mr. Shuler gets enough signatures to force his bill to the floor to be debated, Democrats hope to neuter it by attaching the Baca Amendment. If Mr. Baca's proposal were to become law, open-borders advocates could come back later and pass legislation putting these illegals on a path to citizenship. While not endorsing the Baca Amendment, a senior official with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce told Congressional Quarterly that he believed there was "some kind of deal in the works."

U.S. House Amnesty bill introduced March 22nd by Congressman Flake (R-Arizona) and Congressman Gutierrez (D-IL).

The bill will grant amnesty to all illegal aliens who can show that they have resided in the U.S. since June 1, 2006. All would be granted a "pathway to citizenship". They would have to pay a $2000 fine, learn English, pay some back taxes and will receive a temporary work visa or work permit. After 6 years, they would be granted a green card. Those who do not qualify will be covered under two other amnesties; The Dream Act of 2007 (to the left) and AGJobs for those who are here illegally working in agriculture. The bill  also authorizes a guest worker program for 400,000 "temporary" workers each year.

AMNESTY BILL DEAD!

Earlier today, the Senate held a procedural vote today for closure on the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" bill (S1639, formally S1348) which would have granted amnesty to tens of millions of illegal aliens. The final vote was 46-53 effectively killing the bill until 2009. More then 18 Senators changed their vote from Tuesday which initially allowed the bill to proceed with debate on more then 20 agreed upon amendments. Several news organizations have reported that the Senate telephone system collapsed earlier today from the volume of calls. The American people have spoken!

COMMON VALUES. NATIONAL UNITY. ASSIMILATION.

TENS OF MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS WILL BE GRANTED AMNESTY

The senate voted against closure to allow Senate bill S1348 to proceed to a vote on the Senate floor without further debate or amendments. Another vote for closure will be attempted tonight. This bill legalizes almost all of the current illegal aliens (those who arrived before Jan 1, 2007) under various categories. It would grant parole status to illegal aliens who apply (including gang members who renounce their gang membership) which could then be converted to a "Z visa".

The bill includes a "temporary" guest worker program, an AGJobs program (granting permanent resident status to agricultural workers & their families), and the Dream Act which grants legal status to illegal aliens under 21 along with in state tuition benefits. The actual number is estimated to be between 12-20 million along with their family members which will increase that number to 48-80 million. Click here to see the Bush, Kennedy, McCain Amnesty.
